The Communication and Media Department Reviews 13 Graduation Projects

King Khalid University - Media Center

For 3 days, the Communication and Media Department at King Khalid University organized an online forum to discuss graduate projects of the department's students. Communication and Media Department Head, Prof. Ali Alqarni, Women's Department Supervisor, Sara Al-Solamy, and Training Supervisor, Dr. Ali Al-Qahtani, led the event as it went through all of the specializations such as strategic communication in public relations, journalism and electronic editing, radio, and television.

13 graduation projects and 6 awareness campaigns were covered on a variety of topics as follows:

  • Children and media;
  • Raising awareness of digital entrepreneurship;
  • Reinforcing cultural identity;
  • Raising awareness of the rules and behaviors in public;
  • Enhancing the culture of investing skills in supporting identities;
  • Raising the importance of pre-marriage examinations to limit hereditary diseases.

The students in attendance also put forth a proposal to launch a conference entitled "Media and Digitization: Planning and Strategies", a media exhibition entitled "KKU Informatics", and delivered 3 digital reports entities "The Urban Scene in Asir", "Asir Regional Museum", and "My Service". The students also presented a magazine entitled "E-learning" and a movie entitled "The Other Side".

Prof. Alqarni said: "The students were aware enough to face the COVID-19 pandemic. They started working on their projects earlier, and they adapted to the suspension by using all the technology provided by the university within the scope of their projects. We were pleased to monitor these projects and to organize discussion meetings. These projects were excellent in substance, preparation, and provided valuable scientific outcomes. We also felt the joy that our students expressed about their graduation, especially since graduation projects are the last milestone."

Sara Al-Solamy said: "This forum comes within the department’s keenness to improve training outcomes and qualify them for application in the field. The graduation project represents the point of departure of the students towards media work and supporting the Kingdom's media field."
