More than nine pacts have been agreed to in the King Khalid University Endowment Project since its establishment; as a result, the project is expected to substantially contribute to and enhance the University's legacy in congruence with Vision 2030. The project aspires to attract investors, non-profit sector participation, and principal investment in the Awqaf Properties Fund.

The Secretary-General of the University Awqaf Program, Dr. Omar bin Saeed Al-Mushait, explained that these projects were gradually formed through integrated teamwork from inside and outside the university. All work was completed with the utmost professionalism in order to ensure a solid foundation for the project; this was completed initially by the formation of a higher committee led by the University Rector. His Excellency established the endowment fund management policy before investors and businesspeople were invited to attend workshops on the opportunity to donate and invest in the groundbreaking projects. The investments included a portfolio of prime real estate from an anonymous benefactor and medical clinics from the Tsahfie company. Given the importance of asset allocation that will yield targeted returns with minimal risk, the Endowment Public Council was established in cooperation with the King Abdulaziz University Endowment Fund with an initial strategy of studying the process of developing endowments and the contractual obligation that it entails.

Al-Mushait also confirmed that the project had completed its strategic planning stage, the drafting of regulations and the number of projects to be established, in addition to the formation of the Viewing Council and the Investment Committee.

The King Khalid University Endowments Project aims to become one of the top 10 endowment institutions in the Kingdom by 2030, through the development of educational benchmarks, supporting scientific research, knowledge economy and sustainable development, by promoting competitiveness, partnership, and social responsibility.

The project will be launched in a ceremony to be held by His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Khalid bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Asir Region and Honorary President of University Endowments, on Wednesday, April 18, 2018.
