University concludes the events of its first theatrical festival.

The Vice - President for Educational and Academic Affairs of King Khalid University Dr. Mohammed Al-Hassoun has sponsored the conclusion ceremony of the first theatrical festival which was held last week. The event was conducted by the university in collaboration with the Culture and Arts Association in Abha. The ceremony was attended by the University Vice - President for Health Affairs Dr. Khalid Aljelban besides a number of artists and those who were interested.

At the beginning of the ceremony, the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Marra Al-Habash gave a word in which he explained the importance of the theatrical work, and how it refines, increases students' skills and self-confidence, and how it develops the spirit of teamwork. He also indicated that the Deanship of Student Affairs had prepared well beforehand for that festival by holding three training courses in the theatrical field. The first course was entitled "writing theatrical text" which was presented by Prof. Yahya Alalkami. The second course was titled "preparing the theatrical actor" which was presented by Prof. Metab Al Thawab, while the third was entitled "theatrical director preparation", presented by Prof. Ahmed Alsroe.

These courses were designed to consolidate the role of theater and arts in general in students' hearts. Al Habash stated that the Faculties participating in the festival reached 7 in number: they were Faculty of Education, which made a presentation entitled "Halat Tawazon", the Faculty of Dentistry which presented a play entitled "Shakhsyat Watan", the Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences which made a presentation entitled "Madi wa Hader", the Faculty of administrative Sciences which presented a play entitled "the Decisive Storm", the Community Faculty in Khamis which presented a play entitled "Labik Ya Watanl", the Faculty of Science which made a play entitled "Ishaa Teknya", and finally the Faculty of Computer Science which presented a play entitled "Noreed Masrah."

Then the Head of the Culture and Arts Association in Abha who is also the Chairman of the festival jury, Mr. Ahmed Alsroe confirmed that the Committee held continuous meetings to develop appropriate arbitration mechanisms that would achieve objectivity and impartiality in all the plays made by the participating colleges. The Chairman then showed the mechanism used to evaluate the presented plays and further offered some recommendations for the next festival.

At the end of the ceremony, results were announced as follows: the play entitled "Noreed Masrah" achieved the best integrated display award, while the best actor award went to the student Abdullah Al-Omari in the play "Madi Wa Hader". The "Decisive Storm" and "Shakhsyat Watan" plays achieved the best theatrical decor award, while the best sound effects award went to the student Faisal Al-Qahtani in the paly "Noreed Masrah. " In addition, the best director award was won by the student Mohammed Mubarak in the play "Halat Twazon" while the student Nayef Al Beshri received the best lighting award in the play, " Noreed Masrah"
