King Khalid University Council Approves Regulations for Self-Directed and Interdisciplinary Programs in its Ninth Meeting

On behalf of His Excellency, the Minister of Education, the Acting President of King Khalid University, Prof. Saad bin Muhammad bin Dajam, chaired the ninth meeting of the university council for the academic year 1445. The Secretary-General of the Council of University Affairs, Prof. Bassam bin Abdullah Al Bassam, and members of the university council were all in attendance. 

The Vice-president for Graduate Studies and Research, Prof. Hamed bin Majdou' Al-Qarni, explained that the meeting reviewed the topics listed on the agenda and took the necessary decisions regarding them. The regulations governing self-directed programs were approved, which include Minor programs, Double Major programs, and Interdisciplinary Programs. The regulations governing Microcredentials at the university were also approved, and the approval of the conditions for accepting bridging programs at the university was approved.

Al-Qarni added that scholarships were approved, extended, and terminated for a number of TAs and lecturers. As well as approving a number of Master’s and PHD degrees. The council also approved to update the MA in Translation program and the MA in Clinical Laboratory Sciences program. The meeting also approved a number of requests for early retirement, appointment, and renewal of the services of faculty members, as well as approving the request for a cooperation agreement between King Khalid University and the Academy of Governance Institute for Training, and approving an MOU between King Khalid University and Umm Al-Qura University. The meeting also approved the recommendations of the Investment Committee, and the proposed numbers of students to be accepted for bachelor's and diploma degrees for the academic year 1446.
