King Khalid University Honors Arabic Calligraphy Competition Winners

His Excellency the President of King Khalid University, Prof. Faleh bin Rajaa Al-Solami, attended this honoring ceremony for  the winners and participants of the Arabic Calligraphy second edition competition,  in the presence of the Deputy Emirate of Asir Province, Muhammad bin Jerais, and a number  representatives from  government agencies in Asir, at the university theater Abha.

 

At the beginning of the ceremony, Al-Salami thanked His Royal Highness Prince Turki bin Talal, Governor of the Asir Region, for patronizing the competition  and for his consist support from the beginning of the competition. He explained that  the university’s organization of this competition is the result of the  attention and effort  our country devotes to protecting the  Arabic language and enhancing it its use world wide. He also thanked  Ministry of Education for its support and for allowing  the university the  opportunity to organize  this competition, he finally congratulated the winners and wished them the best on their victory.

 

On his part , the university vice president of Business and Knowledge Economy, Prof.  Abdullatif Al-Hadithi, explained that one of the most important goals of  this competition is to spread awareness of the importance of the art of Arabic calligraphy and to highlight the Kingdom as the capital of Arabic calligraphy in order to preserve its beauty and export it to future generations. He  praised  the efforts of the Deanship of Community service and continuing education, in organizing the competition and the event.

 

 

The general supervisor of the competition, Dr. Ahmed Al-Zamili, said on the occasion,  that the university allocated 200,000 riyals for the competition’s prizes, which were presented to the winners of the first three places in the lines of each category of the  competition. He added that the results of the competition were approved by elite specialists in Arabic calligraphy, noting that the second edition of the competition witnessed several  international participations from various countries

 

On the sidelines of the competition, the university provided and organized a digital course to teach Arabic calligraphy skills through the  kkux platform, with the aim of enhancing  the culture of Arabic calligraphy and its adoption in international event.
