Women in Cybersecurity Initiative Begins

The General Administration of Cyber ​​Security at King Khalid University completed the training of 26 participants as part of the "Women in Cyber ​​Security" initiative, which is a key GoGeek initiative delivered by Ms. Ameera Al-Ahmari.

 

CIO, Mohammed Alsaqer, explained the main course topics as follows:

 

  • Cybersecurity challenges;
  • Policies and implementation;
  • Cyber ​​attacks;
  • Hacking;
  • Malware;
  • Network security;
  • Cryptography.

 

The course also included the provision of curated material for those interested in the field as a starting point. Important statistics and global cybersecurity trends were presented alongside examples of the reasons for and basic tenets of cyber-attacks on government agencies. Various security stratagems, from the intermediate to advanced levels, focusing on internal policies, procedures, and risk management programs were highlighted. The trainers emphasized the human element as the greatest risk factor in electronic security. At the conclusion of the training session, some of the essential technical solutions and the involvement of women in cybersecurity to help mitigate the risk of cyberattacks were delivered.

 

Of noteworthy mention, the Cybersecurity Administration seeks to enhance cybersecurity by raising awareness of relevant issues and conducting workshops for government agencies on the importance of data security.
