University signs an institutional accreditation contract with the National Commission for Assessment and Academic Accreditation.

On behalf of His Excellency the President of King Khalid University, Prof, Abdul Rahman bin Hamad Al Dawood, the Vice President for Development and Quality, Dr. Ahmed bin Yahia Aljbaili, has signed a contract of institutional accreditation of the University, in addition to 6 others of academic programs, with the National Commission for Assessment and Academic Accreditation, in order to get a programmatic accreditation. Regarding this matter, Dr. Ahmed Aljbaili explained that the university has signed contracts and agreement with the National Commission for Assessment and Academic Accreditation in order to obtain the institutional accreditation of the University and Accreditation for 6 academic programs which are: Medicine, Business Management, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, mechanical engineering, and civil engineering. Dr. Aljbaili also clarified that contracts include proceeding assessment process in accordance with the standards and specifications of the commission, conducting necessary training courses, and providing all administrative services and supports, and technical assistance required by the assessment process. Dr. Aljbaili further reported that the university, represented by the Vice - Presidency for Development and Quality, had recently worked on a number of steps to improve the quality of educational outcomes in the field of academic accreditation through management and quality improvement at the university. Among these steps were implementation of the Strategic and Executive Plan, the construction and development of courses and programs of study according to the National Qualifications Framework and quality standards of the National Commission for Assessment and Accreditation, as well as a review of self-study and updating it in the light of developments in the university, and the provision of the necessary data and statistics through performance indicators and reference comparison.

The cooperation between the University and the National Assessment and Accreditation Commission, in the field of institutional accreditation and program and training programs has been in existence for years. The Commission provides these programs as well as mutual visits to develop and improve the educational process in the university, and to achieve accreditation in accordance with the standards and regulations of the Commission. This cooperation is going to continue until the achievement of both institutional and programmatic accreditation for all university programs, which have been planned according to a specific timetable.

Earlier, the University has set a time plan for the adoption of all its academic programs. This plan consists of 4 phases taking into account the basic stages of the opening of new colleges and programs. Also, the University is keen to get programmatic accreditation for all its academic programs by the National Authority for Assessment and Academic Accreditation in addition to international accreditation. The number of King Khalid University colleges after the separation of Bisha University stands at 35 colleges; 17 for males and 18 for females. There are 43 academic programs at the university.

It is noteworthy that the agreement is going to start taking effect at the beginning of the second semester of the current academic year 1436 / 1437 AH. The agreement is also the culmination of the efforts of the university to meet all the key requirements for accreditation, both institutional and programmatic.
