A study to measure and evaluate governmental performance in Asir Province.

King Khalid University, represented by the research and Advisory Studies Institute, and in cooperation with Asir Province Governorate has issued an analytical perspective and a field study entitled “Measurement and Evaluation for government performance in Asir Province”. The study included a speech by His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Khalid bin Abdul Aziz, Governor of Asir Province, in which he clarified that it is a part of Asir Emirate’s national and developmental duty to mandate King Khalid University to carry out a study on measuring and evaluating the government performance in Asir Province. The study which was conducted in collaboration with the Principality of the region, was to determine strengths, weaknesses and imbalances of government functions. The study managed to achieve its goals by relying on field studies and on surveys in order to identify, on the ground, the performance of governmental bodies and departments.

In this sense, the university accepted to oversee and carry out the study, by virtue of the existing scientific and academic experiences it has to  the job - measure and evaluate the performance of government bodies. Moreover, the University has enough experience to follow up on the weaknesses and shortcomings in the performance of these bodies’ functions, and in the implementation of related projects, in addition to the ability to come up with recommendations so as to raise the level of efficiency of services provided to citizens.

Thus the university has formed a team of specialists and experts under the follow-up and supervision of the University President, Prof. Abdulrahman Hamad Aldawood. On the sidelines of this study, the university held a seminar on the measurement and evaluation of the performance of government bodies in Asir Province. The seminar took place on Tuesday, 08/06/1435 AH, and was attended by the directors of the regional governmental bodies. There was a positive interaction among those in attendance during the three organized workshops that brought about several recommendations which will contribute to the advancement of government services and development.

It is noteworthy that the analytical perspective and field study came out with record results and important recommendations, plus executive innovative mechanisms. The results were consistent with the regulations, directives and resolutions of the wise government, led by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, May God save him.
