University President honors students of Media and Communications Department.
His Excellency the King Khalid University President, Prof. Abdulrahman Hamad Aldawood honored the students of Media and Communication Department of the faculty of Humanities. The Honoring of the 81 students who participated in the organization, and in the success of the International Conference of Media and Rumor which was organized by the University last November, took place yesterday evening (Tuesday 24/2/1436 AH).
It is the first participation of the Media students through the Department, which is recently launched. At the beginning of the ceremony, the Head of the Media Department Prof. Ali bin Shuweil Al qarni thanked the University President for his ongoing support and interest in the students of the Department of Information (males and females). He clarified that the students' participation in such events opened up the horizons of creativity and responsibility. He further said, "The main objective of the Department in the coming days is to shoulder the organization of all university events and conferences."
On the occasion, President Aldawood praised all the committees that have worked in the conference, headed by the Vice - President for Academic and Educational Affairs, Dr. Mohammed Al hassoun, the Dean of Humanities College, Dr. Yahya Al-Sharif, the Head of Information Department Prof. Ali Shuweil Alqarni, as well as all the students involved. He said "What you presented was distinctive. This conference showed that students are capable of acting as supervisors not only at the university level but all over the whole province. The main goal of student participation in such conferences is to get a close contact with the teaching staff and other professionals to acquire the new practical experiences." The University President wished the students further excellence and creativity, and to be an example for the rest of the departments and faculties of the university. Arguably, Aldawood clarified that, in the future, should we be asked to participate in the organization of any conference by the Ministry of Higher Education, we would not hesitate to depend on the students of the Department of Information to undertake that. He announced, "In order to encourage you, and because of your great success at the conference, I decided to increase the estimated reward up, by 25%."
On this regard, the Vice - President for Academic and Educational affairs - Al hassoun - urged the students to exploit the conviction of the University's first official - the President - to activate their role in the university, as well as the role of Information and Communication Department to turn later into a college. He said, "You are the frontage, and road of success in the previous conference, and in the upcoming conferences, God willing."
At the end of the ceremony, Aldawood honored the students who participated in the conference.
