Excellence in E-Learning benefits 1127 people

The Collage of Science and Arts in Al-Majardah (the University Branch in Tuhamma) continued its initiative “Excellence in E-Learning” by organizing five workshops for faculty members. A course entitled “The Standards of Designing E-Courses” was held, it was delivered by Ms. Safa Hay Allah Al-Shehri and Ms. Manahel Omar Hussein. Three workshops were organized one of which was entitled “Writing Equations Using Latex” by Dr. Olfat Belkacem Saeed. There were workshops in English for non-Arabic speakers Like: Measuring Learning Outcome and Course Learning Outcomes (CLO) which were delivered by Dr. Sangita Kedasix Chitear. The series of blackboard workshops continued with the aim of guiding and motivating students towards excellence, and two workshops were presented in this regard.

On the other hand, the meetings with the internal and external jury continued. The internal jury consists of 3 members from the college, and the external consists of 7 members from other colleges at the university. In addition to supervising the process of judging 25 model lessons where two meetings were held for the jury.  An evaluation schedule was set for each department the date for determining the top 4 faculty member for each department was set.

As for female students the faculty members have nominated the most active students in e-learning which were 56. A proposal with the mechanism of evaluating the students were set in addition to holding two meetings to motivate students to discuss semester exams and assignments. A lecture for the first stage of excellence candidates to explain the criteria and supervision methods for evaluation. A questionnaire for their opinion in e-learning and its difficulties was distributed; to determine methods to of development and the courses and workshops needed until the end of the first semester.

The workshops targeting faculty members benefited 87 faculty members, as for workshops targeting students it benefitted 229 students. Seven brochures were distributed since the beginning of the initiative along with PowerPoint presentations to benefit students. The number of people who benefited from this initiative during the eighth and ninth week reached 316. A total of 1127 people benefitted from the initiative’s meetings and workshops since its beginning.

In total, the training courses since the begging of the initiatives was 14 courses for faculty members and a recorded workshop, in addition to 8 training workshops for students and a recorded one. There were 8 meetings for faculty members, the jury and female students, and a lecture for female candidates for the first stage of excellence.

The Dean of the Collage of Science and Arts in Al-Majardah Dr. Maha Mohammad Al-Shihri, thanked the Collages, Deanships and administrations which participated in this initiative with workshops and support. She praised the Collage of Education support by presenting seven workshops and participating with two members in the external jury. As well as the Collage of Science and Arts in Muhayel Asir for organizing a workshop and providing the jury with five members. And the Administration of E-Learning at the Administration of University Branch in Tuhamma and the Deanship of E-Learning for their support through technical support. As well as the Community College in Abha for presenting a workshop on measurement and evaluation. And the Colleges of Science and Arts, and Community in Rejal Alma, and the Community College in Mahayel Asir for presenting a workshops in English for non-Arabic speakers.
