Rector Supervises Educational Process and Meets Students
His Excellency, King Khalid University Rector, Prof. Falleh Al-Solamy, was accompanied by Vice Rector for Educational and Academic Affairs, Prof. Saad Du'ajim, to see the progress of the educational process for the Fall 2020 semester. They visited several colleges to make sure that COVID-19 protocols were followed.
Rector Al-Solamy was briefed on the educational process by the College of Science Dean, Prof. Ali Al-Shatti, during a Blackboard training meeting with freshmen students at the College of Science. He praised the faculty members' efforts in training students and adhering to the social distancing procedures. He stressed the importance of continually providing PPE in classes and labs. He advised first-year students to benefit from the e-services to facilitate their education, wishing them all the best. Rector Al-Solamy then delivered a speech to the students in an online lecture, highlighting King Khalid University's eagerness to assist students.
Dean of the Pharmacy College, Dr. Abdulrahman Alsayari, then introduced an app developed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Dean Alsayari mentioned that it allows students to train as pharmacists interactively. The training is through an electronic virtual pharmacy, in which the trainee receives prescriptions and dispenses appropriate medications. The process is supervised and assessed electronically by faculty members.
Of note, King Khalid University started the 2020-21 academic year for around 60,000 students, with deans across all colleges meeting students online to welcome them and answer their questions.
