International White Cane Day

King Khalid University observed International White Cane Day, which falls on the 15th of October every year and recognizes the movement of blind people from dependency to full participation in society. The Deanship of Student Affairs led the function in the Special Needs Student Center. Center Supervisor, Dr. Amer Jaafar, explained that the Special Needs Student Center aims to encourage the community to expand the concept of accessibility.

In the same context, the College of Education, represented by the Department of Special Education in cooperation with the Community Service Committee, held an International White Cane Day activity. In attendance was Dean of the College, Dr. Thabet Al-Kahlan, and a number of the college of faculty members and students. During the university function, the attendees were introduced to the white cane and its importance. Of noteworthy mention, a group of special needs students received plaques of appreciation.
