University Hosts Second Media and Communication Forum

King Khalid University - Media Center

King Khalid University recently hosted the second 'KKU Media Exhibition'. The Media and Communication Department organized the event in collaboration with the Deanship of Student Affairs. The purpose of the exhibition was to educate the students on the role of media on social and cultural affairs.

The forum included a variety of activities and programs that explained the media's (especially the electronic media's) impact on society. The programs also reviewed how various media outlets operate so that the students could better understand effective communications with the various outlets. The General Supervisor of the Media and Communication Department and the Assistant Supervisor, Nora Amer, chaired the event which included more than 1,000 guests.

The program included senior project exhibits by 150 of the students in the Media and Communications Department. Vice Dean for Students' Affairs, Dr. Fatima Shaaban, said 'This forum helps clarify the various roles of mass media and illustrates the ways in which we can use effective communications for the benefit of communities and society at large. In this age of both numerous and diffuse media, it is critical that we focus on making sure that media is an effective tool rather than a destructive influence'.

University Vice Rector of Female Student Affairs, Dr. Khuloud Abu Melha, thanked all of the organizers and participants for their hard work and attention. As the media landscape is constantly changing at a rapid pace, follow up programs are already in the planning phase.
