The College of Medicine at King Khalid University joined the Asir Health Stroke Unit. The unit was recently established in Asir Central Hospital and is focused on advanced medical monitoring of patients around the clock through qualified trainees. The new unit boasts 8 beds, advanced technology, and the expertise of professional doctors. The team includes Dr. Ibrahim Al-Naimi, Head of the Unit, Dr. Hanan Al-Qahtani, Dr. Saeed Al-Qana'a, Dr. Adel Al-Hazani and Dr. Maha Al-Qahtani of the University Medical City. Of noteworthy mention, the unit is specialized in the early diagnosis of patients.

Dean of the College of Medicine, Dr. Sulaiman Al-Hameed, explained that the participation is the result of the partnership with the Directorate of Health Affairs in Asir to work on community service and health care. It is worth mentioning that recent studies confirm that nearly 50% of people who suffer a stroke and are treated during the early hours are able to return to a normal life within six months of stroke.
