Trasheed Company Qualifies University Facilities For Energy Efficiency

The National Energy Efficiency Services Company "Tarsheed" and King Khalid University recently signed a unified agreement aimed to rehabilitate the university's buildings and facilities in order to rationalize energy consumption.

The agreement was signed by His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Energy and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Energy Efficiency Services Company "Tarsheed, and His Excellency the President of the University, Prof. Dr. Faleh bin Rajaa Al-Salami.

The supervisor of the Administrative and Financial Efficiency Department at the university, Dr. Nasser bin Muhammad Asiri, explained that this agreement comes to help rationalize the consumption of electrical energy in the university facilities. Al -Asiri said that according to the agreement Tarshid Company will work, to provide a service model characterized by not placing any burden on the university's budget, and will also finance the rehabilitation of buildings and public facilities in terms of energy efficiency by recovering the savings in energy bills achieved as a financial return on its investments. Thus, "Tarsheed" allows beneficiaries to reduce energy bills and achieve sustainability goals without the need for capital investment.

Al-Asiri added that "Tarsheed" will start implementing detailed technical studies for the targeted buildings at the university to determine appropriate standards needed to save energy. These standards include multiple solutions to achieve energy savings, such as replacing lighting systems with high-quality, energy-saving LEDs, and installing a lighting control system. In addition to installing control systems for the mechanical and electrical systems in buildings, and advanced technologies to existing cooling systems to raise their efficiency in energy consumption.
