The Center for Persons with Disabilities at the University Celebrates World Autism Day

King Khalid University, represented by the Center for Persons with Disabilities, celebrated the World Autism Day, in partnership with the Rouh Al-Israr Center for Care and Rehabilitation, the Autism Families Association, and Obour Center for Care and Rehabilitation.

The Assistant Supervisor of the Center for Persons with Disabilities at the University, Dr. Badria Saad Abuhasel, explained that the event comes to celebrate a dear group we cherish in our society. She added the celebration aims to raise awareness on autism and the importance of early diagnosis, and urges more efforts towards this group.

Abu Hasel praised the efforts of our wise leadership - may God protect - in finding solutions and adopting approaches to contribute to the development of services provided to people with disabilities, especially those suffering from autism, and encouraging efforts made in this regard.

The ceremony included a speech by the vice head of the Department of Special Education, Dr. Basma Al-Shahrani, entitled “The Rights of People with Disabilities”, and a workshop presented by a group of autism specialists that included topics such as : world of autism, some techniques of behavior modification, communication and its role in rehabilitating autistic children), in addition to a number of activities and the participation of the two sign language translators.
