King Khalid University Team Wins the Digital Enrichment Competition

A team from King Khalid University, represented in: Dr. Salha Hadish, researcher and specialist in cyber psychology, and Vice Dean of Student Affairs for Student Services and Sports Activities, Mrs. Aisha Musa Al Shahrani, team leader, and Head of the Information Technology and Media Unit at the Center for Talent, Creativity and Entrepreneurship, and Eng. Abdullah Ibrahim Al Tayeh, web and graphic designer and from the General Administration of Information Technology, won the digital enrichment competition, their participation was entitled "Be Educated to be Safe."

The team was recently honored for winning first place in the field of electronic games, by the "Digital Giving Initiative" which is created by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.

This initiative is specialized in spreading awareness and enriching the Arabic technical content, as well as supporting those interested in serving the community, through building a digital society that offers opportunities for young people to develop their cognitive and technical skills and contribute to raising technical awareness in the community.

The goal of "Be Educated to be Safe" is to educate parents on the proper use of electronic games, and the parental control services that allow parents to monitor the children's gaming activities.

On her part, the Leader of the team, Mrs. Aisha Al Shahrani explained , that communicating with children and educating them is more important than tracking and protecting them, since parents may not always be around their children to guide and protect them.

It's worth noting that the competition included the following 8 categories : remote work, electronic trade, financial technologies, electronic services, digital media, electronic bullying, electronic games and electronic learning.

More than 450 groups and 1300 people participated in the competition which started in October 2020. The qualified participants were supported by more than 190 sessions with specialized consultants, the participations were submitted and judged by a group of specialized judges to nominate the best campaigns for the digital enrichment competition, which lasted two months.
