Orthopedic Students Adopt Smart Devices and Special Software for Examinations

King Khalid University recently conducted an electronic test using tablets for 93 Orthopedic students for the first time. These tablets were updated and prepared with special softwares for electronic tests security. All COVID-19 precautions were taken like: sterilizing the tablets, and making sure to follow the recommended social distancing.

The Dean of the Collage of Medicine Prof. Suleiman Al-Huamid, stressed in his statement the Collage’s eagerness to develop the examination procedures using technology and replacing paper tests with electronic ones. He pointed on the necessity of benefiting from the University’s potentials in this regard. He concluded: the Collage will evaluate all the aspects pf this procedure to be applied to other departments in the College. He sincerely thanked the Medical Education Department, the Orthopedics Department, the Deanship of E-Learning and the College's e-learning unit team.

The Head of the Medical Education Department at the Collage of Medicine Dr. Hasan Al-Zhrani, expressed his happiness in the success of this experiment, and the encouraging feedback. He confirmed this procedure comes in line with the Kingdom’s 2030 Vision. As well as achieving digital transformation which safes a lot of money and effort following the Ministry of Education’s directions to make use of e-learning data as a strategic option for the future.

Al-Zhrani added, using these tablets is the safest option during the COVID-19 era. He concluded with thanking the e-learning unit team at the College of Medicine for their preparation, and the Deanship of E-Learning for providing various modern technologies.

To that, the Head of the Orthopedic Department, Dr. Farid Asiri, confirmed this procedure’s success. He stressed, it was an exceptional experiment which has many advantages in many aspects. The faculty members of the College of Medicine as well as the students who took the test praised the experience.
