KKU Excels in Times Higher Education World University Ranking 2021

King Khalid University, achieved advanced positions in the Times World Classification for Academic ranking for the year 2021. At 501 internationally and 6 locally the universityEngineering department took a 100 point leap from last years classification, while the medical and health departments remain in the list of classified department ranking at 301 internationally and 3rd locally. The Physical Science department which includes the “ Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistics and Geology departments ranked at 501 internationally and 4th locally, also rising a 100 points from last year ’s ranking, finally the university Biology department ranked at 601 and 6th locally.

The University Vice President of Quality and Development Prof. Marzin Al Shahrani, commended his Excellency the University President support and thanked the university’s entities for their efforts in achieving this success, hoping that the university continues to raise the level of quality in education and work according to the strategic plan which will help qualify the university programs to excel among the top 200 university in the world by the year 2030.

On his part the General Supervisor of the University’s International Classifications Unit, Dr. Sami Al-Shehri, praised the university’s achievement and the classification of four of its departments in the World Classification of Academic Specializations for the year 2021.

On the topic of the Times World Classification for Academic Ranking, Al-Shehri explained that the classification first appeared in 2010 in the British magazine The Times, listing an annual list of the top international universities and academic programs according to the standards of leading universities , and the views of university administrations and the industrial and government sectors, to provide accurate classifications and detailed requirements and conditions that must be met to enter the Times Classifications.

Al Shehri, added that the classification indicators are based on the educational environment and embody 30% of the overall percentage, the evaluation is based on the university educational outcomes in general and the quality of the academic program in precise, through a number of sub indicators such as the program reputation, the percentage of faculty members, the number of postgraduate students ,and scientific research.
