King Khalid University - Media Center

In accord with the Ministry of Education's decision, King Khalid University will continue distance learning measures for students during the first seven weeks of the Fall 2020 semester and will review a return to campus in week five. At this time, there are no changes to the standing grading policies.

Concerning scientific events, collaborative training, and medical internship courses, specific protocols were put into place. These protocols call for 100% distance learning delivery under the terms and conditions approved by the Supreme Committee Supervising E-learning Work.

When it comes to safety, social distancing will be strictly enforced if there is an urgent need to attend practical or clinical courses. The protocols call for the full use of personal protective equipment and a maximum student capacity of 50%, with students divided into two groups. The first group will start with week three theoretical lectures, and the second group will start in week four. Online lectures will then follow for two weeks. During practical courses, sections must be divided into groups according to the lab. The college council will retain the mandate to decide which courses will be delivered online.

As for field training and medical intern students, colleges will coordinate with training entities in order to achieve the learning outcomes for each activity. The college, department, and graduate studies council are to organize the necessary arrangements for the courses, evaluation, and viva voces in person in accord with COVID-19 precautionary measures. It was noted that comprehensive exams will require physical presence.

As for councils and committee meetings, it was agreed that they would be held as usual following all the precautions. Assessment policies were also clarified in that college and department councils can call for in-person attendance as necessary. For general courses, computer science introductory courses, affiliation courses, and intensive English skills, it was agreed that on-campus attendance is not required. The entire semester for those courses will be online and complete by week 15. All other courses will require on-campus attendance for the final exams.

King Khalid University is committed to the health and safety of our community. We will continue to emphasize remote learning and work while allowing certain in-person activities under Ministry of Education guidelines and a limited population of students and staff. We seek to support the wellbeing of our community while advancing academic achivements.
