College of Engineering Pulls Together to Produce Medical Equipment During Pandemic

The College of Engineering launched an initiative for manufacturing medical equipment, using 3D printing in the Digital Fabrication Lab, to help meet the critical shortage for medical professionals treating COVID-19 patients. Students from the College of Engineering will participate online under the supervision of highly experienced faculty members on the initiative team.

His Excellency, King Khalid University Rector Prof. Falleh Al-Solamy, expressed appreciation to the College of Engineering, stressing the importance of the participation from all colleges and departments to face this the global pandemic.

Initiative Team Head, Dr. Ali Degim, expressed his thanks to His Excellency Rector Al-Solamy for his efforts in facilitating the call to action and coordinating the COVID-19 response. Dr. Degim explained that masks, test swabs, and ventilators are some of the items being produced.

Of noteworthy mention, Dr. Ali Anqi, Dr. Sager Alamri, and Dr. Saad Alqahtani are leading consultants in this initiative.
