Courses on Protecting Electronic Data

King Khalid University - Media Center

The General Administration of Cyber Security represented by the Administration of Governess and Awareness held a training course entitled "How to Protect Your Data From Cyber Attacks?". This course is part of the CyberSavvy Administration Training and Awareness Program, which calls for 1,000 faculty members to be trained on cybersecurity and data protection.

CIO Dr. Mohammed Alsaqer explained that the course was held in two phases. The first was for faculty members and it lasted for seven hours. The second phase was for the students and it lasted for six hours.

CIO Alsaqer expressed his gratitude to His Excellency Rector Al-Solamy for his support and interest in the initiative. He also explained that CyberSavvy is a general framework that includes many cybersecurity awareness plans. He added that the current COVID-19 pandemic led to online training. Thus, a wider range of people benefitted from this course. He confirmed that this initiative was successful for its distinguished training strategy.

Director of the Administration of Governing and Awareness, Firas Shehbi, explained that the course benefitted more than 500 trainees. He pointed out that the courses offered comprehensive introductory training on cybersecurity. It also enabled trainees to differentiate between cyber-attacks through a simulation process, adding that the human factor is the most important component and yet the weakest link in information security.

Of noteworthy mention, the Administration of Governess and Awareness at the General Administration of Cyber Security executed a number of successful initiatives regarding cybersecurity, such as, "Be Safe" and "Women in Cyber Security".
