University Launches Programming Competition

His Excellency, King Khalid University Rector Prof. Falleh Al-Solamy, inaugurated the first annual programing competition created by the College of Computer Science. The competition is co-sponsored by the university Programming Club and the Deanship of Student Affairs.

Dean of Computer Sciences College, Dr. Ali Mohammed Algarwi, said that this competition is designed to have computer programming students develop creativity, hone their skills and showcase their talents. The competition entails elements of software design, system integration and troubleshooting. He further noted that these are the talents required to serve the rapidly developing technology sector and modern labor market. This event supports the national development objectives set forth in Vision 2030.

Twenty teams totaling more than sixty students from various colleges from different branches within the university participated in the competition. The events tested programming abilities using C, C++, Java, and Python programming languages. The organizers conducted the competition in accordance with the ICPC Global Programming Contest rules. That is, three-person teams each use a single workstation to find programming solutions in the fastest time.
