University launches its 1st Theatrical Festival with "Halt Tawazn" play.

Last Saturday evening, at the College of Applied Medical Sciences in laassan, the King Khalid University's 1st Theater Festival -Innovation Theater - was launched. The launching was in partnership with the Culture and Arts Association branch in Abha.

The opening ceremony started with a word for the Vice - President of Student Affairs, Student Activities, Dr. Nasser Al Gomishan, in which he welcomed the audience and added that the university supported innovators in various fields and from that standpoint the theatrical festival was named Innovation Theater.

Then, the Director of Culture and Arts Association in Abha, Mr. Ahmed Alsroe, gave a speech, in which he stressed that the festival developed a technical and vital activity in the field of theater. The director stated that the festival's aim was to develop amateur theater from among the university students, and to help them  shed more light on their most important experiences within a healthy environment and without restrictions. After that, the first Play of the festival was launched. It was titled "Halt Tawazn", and was performed by the students of the Faculty of Education, and directed by a student - Mohammed Al-Barrak. The play, in its entirety, portrayed extremist cases in the community, and it also offered a model for the balanced person - who accepts all views within the framework of Islamic law and community principles.

It is noteworthy that the festival witnessed, in its breakthrough, a significant attendance and will continue its activities until next Tuesday.
