Times Classification Impact of Universities on Sustainable Development Ranks KKU the 301st University World Wide in this Category
King Khalid University ranked 301 globally in the Times Higher Education Impact Ranking for 2022 , which measures the performance of universities according to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), and the indicators are calculated through balanced comparisons of three areas: that included scientific research to discover new solutions and knowledge related to sustainable development goals, communication through direct work with society, the state and the world, and management through the university’s responsibility for its consumption and sustainability.
The university Vice President of Quality and Development, Dr. Marzan Al-Shahrani, explained that the university was included in the final results of all seventeen rankings , and achieved 47th globally in the sixth rank related to clean water and sanitation, 97th globally in the seventh rank related to providing Affordable and Clean Energy and ranked in the top 200 global universities on three sustainable conditions : Zero Hunger, Climate Action, and Life Below Water.
Al-Shahrani extended his thanks to the President of the University, Prof. Faleh bin Rajaa Al-Sulami, for his constant keenness and efforts aimed at achieving the university’s institutional excellence and global competitiveness in various fields. He also thanked all university units for their active contribution in achieving this achievement, and the International Classifications Unit for their distinguished efforts in this success.
On his part, the General Supervisor of the International Rankings Unit, Dr. Sami Al-Shehri, explained that the university’s participation in the Times International Classifications and its obtaining advanced ranks is evidence of the university’s keenness and leadership in applying the best practices and international standards in the field of higher education. He added that the university’s willingness to work towards achieving international standards contributes to its mission in enhancing performance and outcomes and aligns with the Kingdom's Vision 2030.
