The King Khalid University Endowment Project aims to become one of the top 10 endowment institutions in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by 2030. Numerous educational endowment activities will be conducted that actively support scientific research, knowledge-based economies, and sustainable development through enhancing competitiveness, partnership, and social responsibility.

The project will be launched in a ceremony to be held by His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Khalid bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Asir Region and Honorary President of the University Endowments on Wednesday, 2 Sha'ban, April 18.

Dr. Omar Bin Saeed Al-Mushait, Secretary General of University Endowments, said that the project includes five strategic tracks. A central component of those tracks is anchored to human resource development and the recruitment of a diverse segment of supporters and investments. He also related that internal growth and its related processes would be developed "to support education and health services, the development of the region, talents, innovators, scholarship students and community partnership. It will include the public and private sectors, and charitable foundations."

Al-Mushait added that there are six strategic objectives: attracting several supporters, developing sustainable quality investments, excellent administrative and financial performance of the endowment, developing effective partnerships with different sectors, the endowment role in achieving social responsibility, and supporting innovation of scientific research in support of a knowledge-based economy.

He maintained that each strategic objective includes initiatives for developing the means to attract financial support while preparing professional staff in the field. In short, he asserted that we would attract supporters while establishing effective public relations with patrons. Optimizing the investment of the university’s available resources and development comes as the second goal while building an administrative system, policies and developing human resources and financial regulations for the endowment comes as the third goal. Establishing and developing efficient and continuous channels of communication in the public sector coupled with the development of strategic partnerships in the private sector and supporting quality scientific research, education, health, social and family services is the fourth goal. Promoting and developing the regions potential resources and registering and developing inventions and small projects is the fifth goal.

8 Areas of Investment

Al-Mushait explained that the endowment program includes eight areas of investment: knowledge-based economies, innovation, entrepreneurship, health, education, tourism, entertainment and agriculture, emphasizing the geotourism of the region, scientific research (experienced staff, studies and consultants), university property (large areas and distinctive locations), technology (information security, technical expertise, and advanced data centers), education (specialized colleges), health (medical city, specialized clinics), and human capital (qualified administrations, inspired youth, and academic qualifications).
