The forum is considered one of the research activities that is always conducted quarterly at the Department of Chemistry. Through the forum, the Chemistry Department aims to enrich and increase the research skills, in addition to the scientific publication and debates for the students in the Department of Chemistry. This will be through integration of their research projects along with faculty members and researchers in the Department of Chemistry, and with external distinctive participation, which is selected carefully in each semester, so as to allow the department to listen to feedbacks.

In his word at the forum, the Head of the Department of Chemistry of King Khalid University, Dr. Abdullah Mohammed Al Hanash confirmed that the department realized that the students desperately needed to enrich their research experience and to improve scientific thinking and scientific communication skills. He pointed out that that event came as a chance for Bachelor as well as for Master Degrees students to display their researches that have been undertaken during the study year.

Dr Abdullah further added that in that forum, it was important to have the participation of Prof. Khalid Rashid Saif Alhouchni, the Assistant Professor of Analytical Chemistry at King Fahd Petroleum and Minerals University, so as to create a connection with other Saudi universities. Moreover, he said "the Chemistry department is keen on listening to the feedback of distinguished experts and specialists from the different Chemistry departments around the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia".

After that, the first meeting of the Forum started with a lecture by the Assistant Professor of Analytical Chemistry, King Fahd Petroleum and Minerals University, Dr. Khalid Alhouchni. It was all about modern technologies in isolating chemical materials. It was followed by another lecture entitled 'Synthesis; Composite and Hybrid Materials, Characterization and Applications' presented by Dr. Adel Al-Zahar. Another lecture was by Dr. Mohammed Imam. It was entitled 'Blood Metformin and Sulfonylureas Effect on the Level of prostate Specific Antigen', and next came another one by Professor Nasser Awad, entitled 'Massive production of natural adsorbents from recycling of water treatment date pits and camel bones for'.

A Master degree student, Murad Issa, from the King Khalid University gave a lecture on the 'functional catalyst for MIBK conversion-Bi', and another lecture from Professor Kamel Shaker entitled 'Bioactive Compounds from Organisms Marine' followed. Next, it was the turn of Professor Tariq Saeed who gave a lecture on 'Identification of different sources of PAHs in soil of Abha, Asir' (Saudi Arabia).

There was also a Master degree student - Aisha Marhabi - who discussed on 'Synthesis, characterization and pharmacological evaluation of some derivatives as antimicrobial and quinoxaline anticancer agents'. This was followed by another discussion by another student, Amal Atran, entitled 'Synthesis of Isosorbide - Fatty Acid Esters by Using Solid Acid Catalyst'.
