University Celebrates Arabic Calligraphy International Competition

King Khalid University, represented by the Deanship of Community Service and Continuing Education, is to hold  tomorrow morning, Wednesday, a ceremony honoring the winners  of the second edition of its international competition for Arabic calligraphy, at the University City Theater in Abha at 10 am.

 

The university’s organization of the second edition of the competition, which was sponsored by His Highness, Prince Turki bin Talal bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Asir, comes to achieve several goals,  most prominent of which are strengthening the presence of the Arabic language, while preserving the art of Arabic calligraphy and promoting its culture for future generations.

 

While the general supervisor of the competition, Dr. Ahmed Al-Zamili, explained that the competition prizes amounted to 200,000 riyals, distributed to the first three places in the lines of the competition, which included the Jali Thuluth font, the regular Thuluth font, in addition to the Kufic script font , and the Jali  Diwani script font.  Al-Zamili, also congratulated the winners and  commended the efforts of the competition  participants and the excellence they demonstrated thought out the  competition.
