Al Dawood crowns "Shams Riyadh" horse, with King Khalid University Equestrian Cup.

His Excellency the President of King Khalid University, Prof. Dr. Abdul Rahman bin Hamad Al Dawood, has crowned a horse called "Shams Riyadh" with the University Equestrian Cup of the Year. The crowned horse belongs to the sons of Mohammed bin Ayesh Bin Mohammed Al Tayar, and the rider was the Saudi Arabian Adel El-Fridi, who was trained under the national coach, Hadi Gharawi. Adel El-Fridi won the race in a time of 1, 37.95.

Shams Riyadh, the native horse, attracted attention when it won King Khalid University Cup, after beating the most prominent four-year mares, for a distance of a mile. The winner got SR 42,000 while the second place prize of SR 26,000 was won by Kedar horse. The third place prize of SR 15.000 was won by Hazima horse, while the fourth place prize of SR 12,000 went to Zahra Al-Baha.

The General Manager of the Equestrian Club, Adel bin Abdullah Al-Mazroa, explained that the race consisted of 10 runs and the total cash prizes was SR 1,015,000. Adel Al-Mazroa indicated that the fifth run had been designated to the Cup of Asir Governorate, and the seventh run was for the cup of King Khalid University, while the eighth run was designated for the cup of the Equestrian Club Council.

It is worth mentioning that the Equestrian Club in Riyadh held the 46th race within the events of the horse racing season of this year. Competitions were on the cups of Asir Governorate, of King Khalid University, and of the Equestrian Club Council. The Competitions took place in the King Abdul Aziz field for Equestrian at Janadria.
