After Changing the Name and Structure of the College , The Applied College Receives its First Student Batch
King Khalid University completed the implementation of its project to transform its community colleges into an applied college. This decision was made after the
procedures adopted by the university based on what was issued in this regard by the Council of Universities Affairs and the Ministry of Education, according to an executive plan that took into account with the job market requirements, the latest developments in the field of technology and communications, and the need for applied skills and expertise.
His Excellency King Khalid University, Prof. Dr. Faleh bin Rajaa Al-Solami, said that transforming community colleges into applied colleges comes within the framework of working to contribute in achieving the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 and in response to the Ministry of Education’s endeavor to raise the level of education and training. He added, I made sure that the project takes in account the opinions, needs and perspectives of beneficiaries from both the public and private sectors, and receives the attention it deserves through administrative and specialized scientific committees.
On his part, the University Vice president of Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Saad bin Muhammad bin Dajam, explained that the project to convert community colleges to applied colleges, includes a college in Khamis Mushait, followed by three branches in Abha and in Mahayel Asir.
The Secretary of the Supervisory Committee of the Applied College, Dr. Ahmed bin Ali Al-Mari’ Al-Asiri, Extended his thanks to King Khalid University president, members of the Supervisory Committee and the Vice president of d Academic Affairs for their interest and keenness in the this process. He explained that the university had recently adopted five applied programs within its implementation plan to transform Community colleges into applied colleges, which included business administration program, an accounting program, a marketing program, an information systems program, and web and mobile programming program, noting that the college will follow a three-semester system.
It is worth noting that these programs are considered qualitative programs, and the percentage of training in them at the level of all programs (courses, projects and cooperative training) reaches about 70%. The college is scheduled to work on serving its outputs through three main tracks that include the development of various short and medium quality programs.It aims to respond to the needs of the labor market, meet professional requirements, and creates community partnerships with businessmen, institutions and companies in the region to support training and employment.
