KKU launches Reproductive Health campaign
The Vice-President of Educational and Academic Affairs at King Khalid University, Dr. Mohammed Al-Hassoun, inaugurated the events of the Reproductive Health campaign with the attendance of the Dean of the University Center for Girls and the College of Nursing, Dr. Shanyfa Mohammed Al-Qarni, and 300 ladies and girls. The venue is the Asir Mall, Abha.
The campaign included a number of awareness and educational themes regarding reproductive health. The 21 students who participated in the campaign were keen to spread awareness through the different sections of the campaign.
During the events, a section was allotted to introduce the goals of the campaign and another to raise awareness and education before pregnancy. There was also a section for the pregnancy period, a section for ways to organize pregnancy, a section for infertility, as well as a section for the period after pregnancy (the postpartum period), and another section relating to children and their related issues.
The Vice-President for Educational and Academic Affairs at King Khalid University, Dr. Mohammed Al-Hassoun, explained that the university is keen to fully interact with the community by providing services and support in all areas, medical, educational, and even family.
In this regard, the Dean of the University Center for Girls and the College of Nursing, Dr. Shanyfa Mohammed Al-Qarni, explained that the campaign is part of a series of activities and events through which King Khalid University aims to deliver positive and important messages for the sake of society.
She also confirmed that this campaign comes as part of a plan of the Medical Students Club with the support of the Dean of Student Affairs.
In this regard, Professor of Pathology at King Khaled University, Head of the Community Service Committee, Dr. Jehan Al-Sharnouby, confirmed that the issue of reproductive health is a new topic, so it did not receive adequate attention and awareness. She said, "We realized that introducing such a campaign is very useful to educate women in general, whether they are pregnant or those with fertility issues, those who are interested in pregnancy, and those who experience the postpartum period in addition to child care."
It is worth mentioning that the campaign was under the supervision of both Dr. Jehan Al-Sharnouby and Dr. Nasreen Dafaa Allah, and 21 students from the sixth level in the Faculty of Medicine at King Khalid University participated in the presence, and with the participation of the Gynecology Professor at King Khalid University, Professor Azza Yamani.
