King Khalid University - Media Center

King Khalid University Rector, His Excellency Prof. Falleh R. M. Al-Solamy, recently announced the opening of several food service stations and cafeterias on various campuses throughout the university system. The food service enhancement effort is supervised by the university General Investments Administration.

The university aids the student body by providing access to high quality, reasonably priced food on the various campuses. In addition, these small food service enterprises support entrepreneurship and enhance local economic development. As supporting education and economic growth are key objectives of Vision 2030, the food service enhancement efforts serve two national strategic objectives with one initiative.

Supervisor of the General Investment Administration, Dr. Ibrahim Al-Asmari, explained that the new canteens and cafeterias are both modern and flexible in design. This will provide students with good, wholesome foods and allow for expansion or modification as needs and tastes change. He also noted that the General Investment Administration is planning foodservice additions at the female campus in Al-Samer, the College of Arts and Science in Sarat Obayda, and the male campus in Greger.

Dr. Al-Asmari also emphasized that existing food service facilities at various campuses will be maintained and upgraded on an ongoing basis. He also stated that the university plans to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the Asir Municipality. The collaborative effort is to ensure the health and safety of food delivery services at the university. Various food vendors and food supply businesses will be actively participating in the health and safety efforts in cooperation with the university and the Asir Municipality.
