Strategic Planning Administration to Hold 20 Training Courses

King Khalid University - Media Center

The Strategic Planning Administration at King Khalid University has planned 20 training workshops and courses for the second semester of the 1439-40 academic year. This semester's program is an extension of the previous training program, which offered workshops on advanced strategic planning, operational strategic planning, the balanced scorecard, and the principles of strategic planning.

The program is tailored to vice deans of academic development and quality, academic development and quality unit representatives, and faculty members. It aims to introduce the balanced scorecard (a strategy performance management tool) and teach the skills needed to determine strategic priorities based on the four balanced scorecard elements. It also aims to introduce the principles of strategic success, the definition of strategic planning in light of the balanced scorecard, and practical applications of the balanced scorecard model to raise the awareness of the principles of advanced strategic planning. Of note, this planned workshop and training session will provide trainees with the skills needed to interpret performance indicators and apply strategic analysis in accord with national standards.

Supervisor of the Strategic Planning Administration, Dr. Fakieh Alrabai, explained that these workshops are designed to support the executive entities responsible for the 2020 strategic planning execution, which was developed in 2018. So far, it has successfully delivered a number of workshops that involve balanced scorecards, strategic planning, and quality development.

Dr. Alrabai added that the program has focused on workshops involving the concepts and principles of strategic planning. He noted that introducing the newly developed university strategic plan for the purpose of raising the awareness of new concepts and development in the field of strategic planning is a high priority. All the while, he related, university employees will be afforded the opportunity to learn the skills needed to engage in strategic analysis and the execution of new initiatives and projects. He concluded by noting that the overarching aims of the program are in accord with the King Khalid University Strategic Plan and the initiatives as set forth in Vision 2030, the Ministry of Education's 'Afaq' Strategic Plan, and the standards of international classification.

Of note, the administration plans to hold more than 20 training courses and workshops in the current semester that will cover topics related to strategic planning, the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM), applying strategic leadership, building an executive operations team, professional performance indicators, the role of strategic planning in international classification, strategic report writing, reputation management in educational institutions, and project management.
