College of Pharmacy Holds Student Internship Forum

The College of Pharmacy at King Khalid University held an internship forum for the graduating class of 2019. The forum was held under the tutelage of Pharmacy College Dean, Dr. Abdulrahman Alsayari, and a number of participating entities from the field of pharmacy to discuss the importance of the internship year.

Dean Alsayari stressed the importance of the internship year for pharmacy students. He explained that it allows students to gain real-world insight into the profession and gain the experience they will need as nascent pharmacists. Dean of e-Learning, Dr. Fahad Al-Ahmari, delivered a presentation that discussed the art of design thinking and its impact on the future of the profession, explaining well-known methods to develop and master pharmaceutic skills. Then, College of Pharmacy Vice Dean, Dr. Mohammed Ghazwani, presented a summary of the fundamentals of training and the essential regulations students must adhere to during the internship year.

During the forum, a lecture was presented by Dr. Majid Abu Zayd from Khamis Mushait Public Hospital. Dr. Abu Zayd discussed the importance of implementing quality and safety procedures in the hospital. After, Dr. Mustafa Samir spoke about the different periods of training and the units that offer training for students. Speaking to her experience as a student intern, Ms. Asma Al-Saadiq, highlighted the most important skills she gained during her internship year.

In an exciting development, Al-Nahdi Company participated in spreading awareness on the role the private sector holds in providing community services. At the end of the forum, Dean Alsayari honored the speakers and participants. He concluded by wishing graduating students all the best in their future academic and professional endeavors.
