On behalf of the university rector, Vice Rector, Prof. Muhammad Ali Al-Hasoon, sponsored a workshop titled 'Our Flag an Honor of Our Country'. The workshop was organized by the Public Relations Administration and moderated by the Dahran Al-Janoub College of Arts and Science Dean, Dr. Misfer bin Ahmed Al-Awadi, on Thursday the 14th of Rabīʿ Al-Awwal in the presence senior leadership and a large number of faculty members.

Leading the event, Head of Jurisprudence Principles, Dr. Mohammad bin Motab Al-Kardum, presented a paper titled 'The Status of Flags in Islam, Origins, and Concepts'. Following after, History Department Head, Dr. Saeed bin Mushabab Al-Qahtani, presented a paper titled 'The History of the Saudi Flag'. During his moderation, Dean Al-Awadi briefed the audience on the title of the workshop, pointing to the importance of this event and thanking the Public Relations Administration for organizing and holding this workshop.

On his part, Al-Kardum maintained that education is a banner that represents its people, noting that in the times of the Prophet (PBUH) banners were used. He explained that the Islamic flag bore the phrase 'No God but God' on a white cloth representing what Muslims stand for. He concluded by observing that throughout the ages people have used banners as symbols to deliver messages.

Towards the end of the workshop, Dr. Saeed Mushabab Al Qahtani explained that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been using its flag since the 15th of March 1973, stressing that it is never lowered to half-mast in times of crisis or mourning due to the significance of the phrase it bears.

As an event backdrop, the Public Relations Administration displayed a large informational graphic containing general information on the Saudi flag, the description of its development, and guidelines for flag etiquette that included proper placement, handling, and use.
