The 15^th Annual Book Fair, which is currently being held at the Prince Sultan Cultural Center in Khamis Mushait, organized by the Deanship of Library Affairs, witnessed a record turnout of visitors on the first day of its opening.

Dean of Library Affairs, Dr. Abdullah Al-Nasser, related that visitors to the fair were briefed on the publishing houses which exceeded 100 boasting the presence of more than 30,000 books in addition to the participating governmental bodies.

On the 2^nd of Safar, the first cultural events accompanying the fair will be held under the title 'The Story of a Library' by Dr. Abdullah Abdulrahim Aslan and directed by Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Barqi. On the 3^rd of Safar, a poetry evening will be held by Dr. Abdullah bin Sulayem Al-Rasheed, Ibrahim Miftah, and Mahmoud Shaker. That same night, a lecture will be held titled 'How to Read Scientific Research'. An exhibition will be held on the 4^th of Safar titled 'Qualitative Reading' by Mr. Yahya Mohammed Al-Alkami.

Dr. Abdullah Ayed Al-Shehri will also present a lecture on 'Voluntary Work between Reality and Hope'. Professor Samira Al-Mani'i and Professor Haifa Jhaithin Al-Mabrouk will present on Tuesday the 6^th of Safar. Dr. Awad bin Abdullah Al-Qarni and Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Al-Humaid will hold a poetry evening on the same night.

Dr. Muflih bin Zaben Al-Qahtani will moderate a talk. Professor Dr. Hassan bin Fahad Al-Huwaimel will talk about hard copies and electronic books on Wednesday evening the 8th Safar in a lecture directed by Prof. Yahya bin Abdullah Al-Sharif. Dr. Carmen Mohammed Suwailm and Ms. Nemsha Al-Almai will conclude the activities of the exhibition on Thursday evening the 9^th of Safar by presenting a lecture on psychological and social immunity.

On the first day, the book fair witnessed the launch of three new books by the Abha Literary club. They revolved around key aspects of the historical culture of the Asir. The works introduced were 'The Journey of Seventy Years' by Dr. Zaher bin Awad al-Almai, 'Home of a Man' by the author Mohammad Hassan Gharib, and 'Traditional Architecture in the Asir Region' by Dr. Ali Al-Marzoki.
