The Intellectual Awareness Unit at King Khalid University has launched its first short television program with 30 awareness episodes. Broadcasting started with the advent of the Holy Month of Ramadan.
The program targets the various segments of society in all age groups and intellectual strata. A number of civil and military leaders participated in the program as an implementation of the Governor's directive. The purpose of such program is to immunize young people against severe and rigid intellectual deviations and to achieve the mission of the university in instilling the values of moderation and following the teachings and practices of the Holy Quran and the Sunnah.
The Deputy Director of the Intellectual Awareness Unit at the Boys' Colleges and the University's Branches, Dr. Masfer Ahmed Al-Wadai, said that the program hosted in its first episode, His Excellency Prof. Dr. Faleh Bin Rajaa Allah Al Solamy. The episodes were also honored by the participation of the Vice Chancellor for the Asir Region, Mr. Sulaiman Al Juraish, the Member of Senior Scholars, Dr. Jibril Al Busaily, the Supervisor of the General Presidency of Fatwa and the region's Mufti, Dr. Saad Al Hajri, the University Vice President, Dr. Mohammed Al Hassoun, the Director of Drug Control in the Asir Region, Brigadier Saad Al Omari, and other dignitaries of the region and many of the University's employees.
It is worth mentioning that the Intellectual Awareness Unit of the University aims to establish sound thought of the mind and religion. It also seeks to fulfill the university student’s legitimate and balanced vision, in addition to demonstrating the obligation of obedience and loyalty to the legitimacy of the community. The unit strives to activate the role of the university student by increasing national loyalty. Moreover, the unit seeks to raise the awareness of the University students to the seriousness of networks and the spread of rumors and intellectual deviations. Also, it strives towards developing the religious conscience of students. Finally, the unit works on building an integrative relationship between the university and society to raise awareness and educate them about the dangers of terrorism and extremism.
