Rector Receives President of Khamis Mushayt Municipal Council.

Rector of King Khalid University (KKU), His Excellency, Prof. Faleh bin Rajaa Allah Al Solamy, yesterday evening, received in his office, the President of the municipal council of Khamis Mushayt province, His Excellency, Professor Zafer Al Fahidh, together with Mr. Sulaiman bin Abdullah, and their accompanying delegation.

The visit of the representatives of the municipal council and the mayor was to discuss a number of topics that were related to the governorate and the university. In this context, the President of the municipal council had discussed with the Rector of the University the issue of the land owned by the University in the province, and how to use it for the benefit of both sides.

For his part, His Excellency, Rector Al Solamy, welcomed the delegation and its proposals, stressing that "the university seeks eagerly to promote education in the region, in addition to community service, which is one of the most prominent objectives of KKU". The Rector further valued His Excellency the President of the Municipal Council's keenness to the educational process in the region, pointing out that their proposals would be studied more broadly and the University would not overlook or postpone any step that may be of benefit to the educational process.

For his part, Prof. Al Fahidh explained, during the meeting, that the university was located on distinguished position - in the east of the province - the benefit of this situation should be exploited to serve its children. Prof. Al Fahidh called on the Rector to open a branch of the University that could serve the governorate, and the eastern centers and provinces of the region, as the people of those provincial centers incurred trouble and risks during their studies in the current branches of the university area.

The President of the Council emphasized the importance of providing more site of the university in the governorate, suggesting that the university can hire distinct sites to open additional branches, to deliver large-scale educational services at the level of Asir region. He pointed out that there were bids from private Gulf universities wishing to open branches in the region. This will further enhance the University to invest its positions in this regard. In addition, the opening of branches of Gulf universities in the region will contribute to the development of education even more.

For his part, the mayor of Khamis Province, Mr. Sulaiman bin Abdullah, thanked King Khalid University for the services it provided to the municipality and to the municipal council in terms of the conducting courses. He explained that a partnership had been signed with the Deanship of continuing education and community service to provide training services for municipal employees and for members of the municipal council, in addition to the coordination to provide training courses for the community as well.
