Rector heads a meeting for developing the coast and touristic centers in Asir.

At the behest of the Governor of Asir region, His Royal Highness, Prince Faisal bin Khalid bin Abdul-Aziz, King Khalid University has conducted a comprehensive and detailed plans for the development of the coast and touristic centers in Asir region. The University developmental plans are part of the comprehensive developmental plan for the provinces and centers of Asir region to expand their tourism bases. On this context, His Excellency, Prof. Faleh bin Rajaa Allah Al Solamy, the Rector of King Khalid University (KKU), who is the supervisor General of the Commission on the development of the coast and touristic centers, met, yesterday evening, in his office, with members of the Committee.

In the beginning of the meeting, His Excellency Al Solamy, stressed the role of the university and its interest in the field of community service and in the development of the area, offering his thanks to His Highness - the Governor of the Asir region - for honoring King Khalid University with this commissioning. He further explained that the university would do its best to complete the study, in cooperation with other official bodies. The Rector pointing out to the importance of engaging all official and community segments, such as youth, in the development of visions about the study.

The meeting was attended by the Vice President for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, who is also the Deputy General supervisor, Dr. Majid Al-Harbi, the Director of Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz Center for research and environmental touristic Studies at the University, who is also the Head of the research team, Dr. Hussein Wadi'i, and the representative of activating investment and tourism in the Emirate of Asir region, Dr. Abdurrahman bin Hamed. Others in attendance were the Director-General of the General Authority for Tourism and National Heritage in Asir branch, Mohamed Al-Umrah, the Director General of studies and designs Asir region, Eng. Khalid Al-Omari, and a number of employees of the Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz Center for Research, environmental and touristic Studies.

For their part, members of the Committee of the Emirate of Asir region, the Secretariat, and the General Authority for Tourism and National Heritage, have all assured their eagerness to provide all needed aids to complete the work of the Commission.

For his part, the Head of the research team has prepared a study plan submitted by Prince Sultan Center, which focused on the importance of involving public, private, and community agencies located on the coast and at touristic centers in all phases of the study, in addition to a review of national development strategies adopted for the Kingdom, and the Asir region in particular, as a reference base, including the availability of clear visions and specific targets, to take advantage of previous research studies about the coast and touristic centers.
