King Khalid University (KKU), represented by the Deanship of Student Affairs, is organizing the 7th Competitive Scientific Meeting for the students of the university. The events will take place on Tuesday, the 5th of next month 1437 AH, at the central amphitheater in the University City in Abha.
On this occasion, the Vice - President of Student Affairs, Dr. Mohammed Al-Shehri, has explained that the university was keen to establish that scientific meeting in preparation for the participation in the scientific conference for higher education students, which would be held in Medina, during the period 2 - 7 / 10 / 1438 AH. Dr. Al Shehri said, "This conference aims to be a prominent annual competitive meeting for students, and to attract their innovations. Moreover, the Ministry seeks to make this conference a competitor to the similar global conferences, in terms of organization, quality of work, and diversity, so as to contribute to the renaissance of our beloved country by participating with research projects and creative work, in different disciplines. The Conference also tries to provide students with a range of academic and personal skills, and to deepen the values of cooperation, fair competition, scientific honesty, and integrity within them." Dr.Al Shehri pointed out that among the desired objectives of holding the conference were highlighting the talents of students of Saudi Arabian higher education institutions, by giving them the chance through the different themes and events of the conference. Other objectives of the conference are raising the students' scientific and cultural levels through strengthening their research and creative values, and developing the students' scientific research culture, creativity, and innovation, as well as encouraging authentic and distinctive works of art and media, in addition to encouraging students' volunteerism and pioneering works. Additionally, the desired objectives of the conference are the construction of small projects, and enriching the students' academic areas by presenting and disseminating students' scientific and creative productions, and the development of their skills of leadership and of dialogue, in addition to instilling and strengthening in them, fair scientific competition values and teamwork.
It is noteworthy that the conference has three themes: the business industry, research and innovation, and small projects in community service. Furthermore, the conference is accompanied by other events such as: diction; with two sections: oratory (explanation), and works of art such as: (calligraphy, photography, plastic cartooning, plastic photography caricature, and digital art).
The university calls on all students to participate in the conference, so as to win prizes and to be elected to participate in the scientific conference which will be held next year in Medina.
