International Assessment Committee visiting the Medical College of the University.

King Khalid University Vice - President for Development and Quality, Dr. Ahmed Aljbaili has inaugurated a workshop in the Faculty of Medicine. The workshop is titled " mechanism of qualification and preparation for programmatic accreditation from the National Commission." Many dignified personalities such as the Dean of Medicine Faculty, Dr. Abdullah Asiri and the two consultants in quality accreditation in Britain, who are also the trainers of Arbitrators of the National Commission for Academic Accreditation, Dr. Shauna Patterson, Dr. Gillian King, attended the workshop.

The opening ceremony began with a speech by the Dean of the Faculty in which he welcomed the attendees and thanked them for accepting the invitation. He also informed the gathering of the effort made by the Faculty of Medicine, and that made by the Faculty Vice - President for Development and Quality, Dr. Ali Al-Qahtani. The Dean concluded his speech by thanking the President of the University for his ongoing support and desire to apply all the quality standards at the university in general and at the Faculty of Medicine in particular.

At the conclusion of the opening ceremony, the Vice - President for Development and Quality honored the two consultants by granting them two gold medals presented out of the Faculty of Medicine. Moreover, certificates, as well as gold, silver and bronze medals were distributed to those members of the faculty who are excellent in quality work.

Then, the visiting delegation went to have a look at the departments of the Faculty and the various administrative units. There, they met the Board members and the members of the Main Committee for Quality, the courses makers, the teaching staff and some of the students. They reviewed all documents required for accreditation including the self-study and its report, program description and report of the last three years, as well as the description of all the Faculty's courses which are 46 in number; 35 of them scheduled to be taught within the Faculty, and 11 outside the Faculty.

The accreditation officials focused on the National Body standards, especially the first and fourth criteria, besides evidence that prove mechanisms, policies and procedures and all other practices in the Faculty. They gave a comprehensive report on the quality of the Faculty documentation and applied system attacks to guarantee its readiness for the institutional accreditation from now.

With a little development, the Faculty of Medicine will become a model for all colleges in various universities in the Kingdom, which is considered a leading deed and a qualitative leap in the field of development and improvement of the quality of education."
