King Khalid University, represented by Computer Science Faculty - Networking and Communications discipline - has conducted seven projects for the first semester of the academic year 1435/1436 AH. The projects contained design, implementation, management and protection works.

The details of the projects are thus; they included a project known as the smart control of consumption capacity to control electrical appliances by turning them on and off wirelessly, so as to reduce electric power consumption of the system, based on the recorded information collected from the smart meter, which sends messages to those who are concerned about the state of the network. In addition to that is another project which sets up a disruption circle on mobile devices, which perturbs cell phones and hinders their operation in non-desirable places. There is also another project provided to track or position location via wireless sensors networks. It enables locating the position of sensor holder wirelessly. This technique is useful in several purposes such as Hajj gatherings, markets and crowded spaces. There was also a project to design, implement, and manage data centers plus protecting them from unwanted accessing, while at the same time ensuring maximum effectiveness and readiness of continuous work even in the time of crash incident.

The university has provided a collaborative detection in radio perceived networks project. Through the project, more than two devices collaborate to discover the extent of filling reciprocating package, thus avoiding confusion on the primary user and the exploitation of the vacant spaces. Moreover, there was a project to design the so called Honey Trap, to protect networks from the attacker by collecting information about the attacker and the tools that can be used during the attack, as well as rectifying weaknesses in the networks protection, if found. Finally, was a projected conduced to design a virtual network that is special for small businesses. The project enables PCs to send and receive data over a shared or public networks as if they are directly connected to the internet, while maintaining the security and the management as a private network.
