KKU Launches Interactive Workshop on Environmental Sample Analysis with the National Center for Environmental Compliance Monitoring
King Khalid University - General Administration of Institutional Communication
Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Center for Environmental Research and Sustainability of Natural Resources at King Khalid University organized an intensive two-day interactive workshop on "Methods of Collecting, Preserving, and Analyzing Various Environmental Samples" at the University City in Al-Fara'a. The workshop comes in cooperation with the National Center for Environmental Compliance Monitoring. It was attended by directors and members of the National Center for Environmental Compliance Monitoring in the southern regions (Asir, Jazan, Najran, Baha), and aims to highlight the importance of using optimal techniques for collecting samples from soil, water, and air, as well as the importance of accurate analysis of these samples.
The first day of the workshop included lectures and practical activities that covered the importance of using optimal methods for collecting samples from various environmental media (soil, water, air) and the importance of analyzing these samples using advanced techniques for analyzing environmental data and providing high-quality results that contribute to supporting evidence-based environmental decision-making.
Dr. Rahma Nasser Al-Jaris, Director of Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Center for Environmental Research and Sustainability of Natural Resources at King Khalid University, explained that the workshop comes within the framework of the ongoing cooperation between the university and the National Center for Environmental Compliance Monitoring, as it seeks to enhance the scientific and practical capabilities of participants in collecting and analyzing various environmental samples, which provides sustainable solutions for environmental protection.
The workshop will continue until Monday, September 30th, where participants will conduct a field visit to the central laboratories at King Khalid University to learn about the modern devices used in the chemical analysis of samples, including liquid and gas chromatography, mass spectrometry, and advanced spectroscopy devices.
This workshop is part of the joint efforts to activate the cooperation agreement between King Khalid University and the National Center for Environmental Compliance Monitoring, which aims to improve environmental monitoring in the Kingdom and enhance the protection of natural resources through scientific research and environmental analysis.
