Celebrating the Arabic language in the University.

The Department of Arabic Language of the Faculty of Humanities at King Khalid University is preparing an integrated program to celebrate the world day of Arabic language which is coming up on the 26th of Safar 1436 AH, corresponding to 18th of December 2014 (the day in which the Arabic language was declared an official language at the United Nations).

The Director of the Department of Arabic Language, Dr. Abdul Rahman Bin Hassan Mahsne has stated that the department has developed a comprehensive plan to celebrate the Arabic Language global day. The plan included carrying out a large number of activities and programs and launching initiatives to make the Arabic language day a day of celebration for a year of achievements and a proper time to draw plans, and to cooperate to implement them. Activities of the day are going to include 6 research papers: including technical innovations to highlight the Arabic language, macro technology in Microsoft Word to be presented by Dr. Yasser Darwish, and the impact of hybrid language on the Arabic letter through social networks from Professor Abdulkarim Aoufi. Dr. Fawzi Sweileh will address a paper titled: Secrets of the Arabic letters in Al-Qalam verse ..

On this regard, the Vice - President of Student Affairs for Student Activities at the University Dr. Nasser Al Gomishan declared that the deanship in collaboration with the Department of Arabic Language will set up a Calligraphy Festival in Asir Mall. The activity will include an introduction of the aesthetics of calligraphy by hosting famous calligraphers in the region to conduct courses that will help students to acquire quick skills in drawing Req'a and Naskh. Moreover, there will be a section of writing and coloring for kids.

The Department of Arabic language is going to display a film about the Arabic language in its global day, in addition to contests and prizes to the attendees. Al Gomishan pointed out that the project aimed at achieving the directives of the wise leadership in the country in general, and in the university in particular, in the promotion of belonging to the Arab language; the language of Quran and the nation's identity. He added that Deanship is seeking through these events to demonstrate the beauty of calligraphy and improve the performance of drawing the letter.
