University Celebrates World Arabic Language Day

King Khalid University and Asir Development Authority (ASDA) celebrated World Arabic language Day 2023 in an event under the slogan, "Arabic, the Language of Art and Poetry". The event was attended by university specialists, students and enthusiasts alongside the Dean of the College of Arts and Humanities, Dr. Khalid Abu Himka at the Abha literary club theater.

The event commenced with a visual presentation, organized by the General Administration of Institutional Communication at King Khalid University, which discussed cultural and literary topics, and highlighted the main points and objectives of the event.

Event activities included a variety of programs, including a visual arts exhibition, organized by Abha's Culture and Arts Association, a poetry recital, and "Al-Barzakhiun" poetry play.

On his part, the Dean of the College of Arts and Humanities, Dr. Khalid Abu Hikma, pointed out that the university, under His Excellency's Patronage, is dedicated to the yearly celebration of the International Day of the Arabic Language. The university believes in its academic responsibility to root the language's heritage through a series of cultural and literary programs and initiatives. The dean explained that this event comes as a partnership with Abha Development Authority, and with the cooperation of a number of cultural authorities in the region.

The College of Arts and Humanities organized the "Arabic, language of art and poetry" webinar, which was held by the Director of the Arabic Language and Literature Department, Dr. Yahya bin Ahmad Al-Latini, where a number of faculty members participated.

The Applied College in Muhail Asir also held an event commemorating the International Day of the Arabic Language 2023, under the same slogan, and was attended by the CEO of the college, Dr. Ibrahim bin Ali Al-Qaid. The event included a seminar and an accompanying exhibition, which included works of Arabic calligraphy, books, visual art, and a poetry recital. A number of faculty members spoke at the seminar about the beauty of the Arabic Language.
