Under the auspices of Prof. Abdulrahman Hamad Aldawood, the President of King Khalid University, and with the attendance of the Vice - President of the university, Prof. Marei Bin Hussein Al-Qahtani, the university represented by the Deanship of Student Affairs continued to celebrate the 84th National Day at Asir Shopping Mall in Abha. The celebration included a variety of events and competitions that portrayed the country, its potentials and history. The atmosphere at the occasion was festive, filled with joy and happiness, amid a gathering of hundreds of attendees from all age groups. The attendees watched the various events, which started with a national poem presented by the poet Abdullah Alsakti. Next was the turn of one of the university students who sang a national song that spoke about patriotism of the people, and glories of the Kingdom. Apparently, the song attracted the attention of the attendees who were so enthusiastic listening to it. Subsequently, the President and the Vice President of the university delivered shields to the winners of "Homeland Culture" competition, and honored the best national costume child. Additionally, the contribution of the Management of Asir Center Shopping Mall and that of those who took part in the successful event were acknowledged and appreciated.

It is noteworthy that the university had earlier launched a convoy called "Homeland Culture", which aimed at educating young people through a review of the most important achievements of the nation. The convoy displayed 4 decorated cars with the logo of the Kingdom, the university, as well as the occasion inscribed on them. The convoy moved around many locations, such as Al-Souda Park, where the organizers performed many shows, conducted historical competitions, and distributed white roses to which are attached small cards on which were written short messages of tips and directives on the best ways to celebrate the occasion. The massages also urged people to maintain the prestige of the occasion, and to avoid exhibiting any misbehavior that may affect the delight brought about by the celebrations.
